My One-Touch Approach to Bookkeeping

There’s this idea that bookkeeping is just plugging in numbers and chasing receipts. And sure, that’s part of it – but if that’s all you’re doing, it’s exhausting. For you and for me.

I work differently.

I aim for a one-touch flow wherever possible. That means when an invoice or receipt lands, it doesn’t get shuffled into a drawer, emailed back and forth, or manually typed out later. It’s sent to the right place with ease, checked once, coded right, and filed – done.

Because let’s be honest: no one starts a business to drown in paperwork.

Here’s some of the software that I use to make it effortless:

  • Jack AI – Forward receipts by email or WhatsApp. No logins, no fuss. Jack does the heavy lifting and I check the rest.

  • Apron – Collect and pay bills smoothly, with approval flows and tidy records – no more chasing.

  • Hubdoc & Dext – Snap, fetch, and store receipts automatically so nothing gets lost in your inbox.

  • A2X – If you sell on Shopify or Amazon, A2X translates those messy statements into tidy summaries that match your payouts.

  • Xero – The hub where it all comes together. One version of the truth, always up to date.

But honestly? Tools are only part of the story.

It’s how they’re set up — and how I link them together — that makes the real difference.

One touch. No repeats. Less stress.

It’s not about keeping HMRC happy. It’s about giving you space to breathe, plan, and actually run your business.
